Why is Mike Prangley suddenly a dancing fool?

Jacksonville is a great community that really rallies around causes that help so many people.

When I was asked to be part of St. Jude Stars Dancing on the Atlantic I at first was very hesitant. I run for great causes like the 26.2 National Breast Cancer Marathon but I am not a dancer, not even close. But when the organizers Jim and Sue Dunlap told me about how this is a one of a kind event I wanted to hear more. I listened closely about the great impact St. Jude has on families and how it was life-changing for the Dunlaps because they have seen first-hand just how much it helps so many kids.

The only thing families should ever have to think about is spending as much time with their healthy kids as they can without worrying about their medical diagnosis or bills or where they are going to stay. I am so blessed to have had 3 healthy daughters and this was a way I could truly help families that needed a sense of normalcy. St. Jude not only makes this happen but parents can actually spend a joyful time with their kids. All the kids have smiles on their face and are seen smiling and waving and if needed wrapped in warm blankets. There are no wheelchairs but kids get around in these amazing red wagons. Inspiring art work is everywhere you look including majestic clouds on the walls!

When St. Jude first started there was less than a 20% childhood cancer survival rate and now it is 85% and by April of 2020 the goal is to have it near 100%!! This research is shared with hospitals around the country and world and helps local families right here at home in Jacksonville. I look forward to meeting these familys on Saturday night. So there is only one thing left to do…IT IS TIME TO DANCE and any donation you can give to St. Jude on my facebook page can give you a great sense of satisfaction that you are truly making a difference.
