WWII vets eat free on Pearl Harbor Day at Mission BBQ

Food will be offered from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. At noon, the restaurant plans to have staff sing the National Anthem, which happens every day.

This story has been corrected to say that food will be offered until 9 p.m, not 10 p.m.

As a way to say thank you to the Greatest Generation, Mission BBQ is offering World War II veterans free food on Friday for National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.

The free food will be offered Mission BBQ's two local locations in Jacksonville: 4852 Town Center Parkway at the St. Johns Town Center and 8440 Blanding Blvd. near the Orange Park Mall.

Food will be offered from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. At noon, the restaurant plans to have staff sing the National Anthem, which happens every day.

"Your meal is on us, with our most sincere respect and appreciation," a press release said.

Friday marks the 77th anniversary of the deadly attack on Pearl Harbor. On Dec. 7, 1941, the Japanese bombed the United States naval base at Pearl Harbor and killed more than 2,000. It caused the U.S. to enter WWII.
