Happy Grilled Cheese teases new sign, 'weeks away' from opening in Mandarin

Jacksonville's original gourmet grilled cheese shop is one step closer to opening its doors in Mandarin!

The Happy Grilled Cheese is "just a few weeks away" from opening the doors to its second brick-and-mortar location in Mandarin, according to their official Instagram account.

The restaurant teased photos of its new sign now hanging at 9965 San Jose Blvd. where Blue Pacific Tacos was formerly located.

A specific opening date wasn't announced, but the restaurant said to "stay tuned for updates."

The owner, Anthony Hashem, signed the lease to its Mandarin location in early April.

The Happy Grilled Cheese is dubbed "Jacksonville's original gourmet grilled cheese" sandwich shop. It first started as a food truck about six years ago and expanded into its first storefront in Downtown Jacksonville about two years ago.

Popular on the menu include their "Daddy of the Mac" and the "No Hangover Melt," which both consist of three cheeses, homemade mac and cheese and pulled pork.

The Happy Grilled Cheese also serves salads and french fries. In fact, another fan favorite is their loaded fries.

"It's your standard french fries, then we put kind of crazy cheese and crazying toppings on them," Hashem said. "Make them buffalo chicken style or philly fries."

The downtown location, 219 N. Hogan St., is open Monday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The food truck is still in operation, but their location and hours very. Check their Facebook to stay up-to-date with their schedule.
