Vincent van Gogh’s iconic artwork comes to life at Jacksonville exhibition

When you’re in "Beyond Van Gogh" you don’t just see "Starry Night," you’re inside "Starry Night."

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Are you a fan of Van Gogh? The 'Beyond Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience' is opening in Jacksonville this week.

The immersive experience features more than 300 of Vincent van Gogh’s iconic artworks and takes art lovers into a three-dimensional world that exhilarates the senses.

Organizers use the artist’s own dreams, thoughts and words to drive the experience as a narrative, while guests move along projection-swathed walls wrapped in light and color.

"It's about focusing on the healing power of nature, the sheer power of color and the therapeutic nature of art," said Fanny Curtat, consultant for the Beyond Van Gogh creative team.

Visitors to the exhibit will be able to be enveloped by the artwork of Van Gogh.

"There's something so magical about being able to go beyond the frame," said Curtat. "It allows you to see his work in a whole new way."

When you’re in Beyond Van Gogh, you don’t just see Starry Night, you’re in Starry Night.

"His work is transported on this large scale, enormous scale, it's being brought to life, it's animated," said Curtat. "We want to insist upon this show, going beyond the darkness of the myth of Van Gogh and focusing on how joyful and beautiful and vibrant his work is."

Event organizers say guests will witness over 300 masterpieces, including instantly recognizable classics such as “The Starry Night,” “Sunflowers” and “Café Terrace at Night”.

Van Gogh’s art will come to life by appearing and disappearing, flowing across multiple surfaces, and heightening senses.

The sensory extravaganza, produced by Paquin Entertainment Group, will open in Jacksonville on Sept. 16 at Immersive Art Space, located at 119 West Beaver Street, and run through Nov. 6.
