Behind the scenes with GMJ: Meet editor, Josh Hodges

Josh is one of the main producers of a segment called 'The Mosquito Report' which started small and has taken on a life of its own.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Going Behind the Scenes with GMJ isn’t always easy, that's because most people who work off-camera don’t like to be in the spotlight.

As was the case of editor/associate producer Josh Hodges when he tried to run away from this interview, but he wasn’t fast enough.

Hodges who is a native of a small town in Nassau County called Hilliard, studied broadcast journalism at Florida State College at Jacksonville and the University of North Florida.

His work duties on Good Morning Jacksonville go far beyond his title as a member of the team. Josh edits video for newscasts and runs all of the satellite operations in the morning. He takes in video feeds from various news outlets and also serves as a floor director during newscasts as needed, making sure on-air talent is where they need to be and know when to wrap and move on to the next story.

Hodges says he’s still trying to figure out his ultimate life goals and says right now, “I’m just trying to dip my toes in all of the broadcast journalism water.”

The best part of GMJ, in his opinion, is his co-workers who he describes as, “chill.”

The worst part he says is the hours. Josh arrives at the station dark and early around 3:30 a.m.
