Jacksonville Beach's holiday extravaganza is back this year with a new display of 40 dazzlingly decorated lifeguard chairs.
This year's Deck the Chairs event will last from Nov. 23 until Jan. 1. The opening night will feature a breathtaking light show, presentations and the opening of the Beaches Go Green Changing Tides Play Space.
Opening day festivities kick off at 4 p.m. and will last until 8 p.m. The play space will feature a huge plastic-adorned light-up octopus that is 150 feet wide and 16 feet high.
Deck the Chairs will have over 200 days of free exhibits for the public, with 250 handcrafted artfully decorated chairs, and multiple musicals, dance and theatrical performances.
This year those who attend can expect an upgraded light show and an extensive lineup of weekend holiday programs. The Krystal Kleen Light Show will be up every weekend from 6 p.m. to 9 p. m., with exhibits lights being on nightly from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m.
“I am always amazed by the passion and commitment demonstrated by our partners, volunteers and donors to this unique holiday display," Kurtis Loftus, Executive Director of Deck The Chairs said. "I am especially grateful to Beaches Go Green and Artistic Contractors for building this beautifully crafted exhibit that shares a message very important to all of us.”
