YULEE, Fla — You know the cute purr noise made by Daenerys' dragons on Game of Thrones? Well, maybe it's not that cute, but it is a noise. And because dragons don't exist in real life, that noise had to be created by a professional sound designer.

Paula Fairfield is the sound designer for Game of Thrones. According to Business Insider, Fairfield has used sounds of lions, elephants, cats, and even tortoises to create the sound for a dragon.

Fairfield told Business Insider even her dogs were in the second episode of season five.

"There's a scene that's very intimate and you hear these like beautiful little nasal whistles. That was my dog, Angel," she said.

Some animals living on the First Coast also made their voice-acting debut on Game of Thrones.

Endangered species living in Yulee's White Oak Conservation voiced Dany's dragons in this latest season. The plantation posted a video of Fairfield setting up her microphone next to a pen of rhinos and listening in. They said she also used their cranes as well.

The post said Fairfield felt that using voices of endangered species was important.

"We live in a world where our animals are disappearing at a rapid rate, so it's powerful for me to listen to their beautiful voices and use them in this space," she said.
