Prince fans on the First Coast will have the chance to hear a special symphonic tribute to The Purple One performed by the Jacksonville Rock Symphony Orchestra and curated by The Roots’ drummer Questlove.

The Florida Theatre announced the concert, “4A - A Symphonic Celebration of Prince” for 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. on Friday. Purchase tickets here.

The concert will include some of Prince’s chart-topping hits, including “Purple Rain,” “Kiss,” “When Doves Cry” and numerous others hand-selected by The Roots’ drummer, Amir “Questlove” Thompson, who curated and produced the songs being used in the production.

Prince’s estate provided photos and videos that are likely to be used in the production, according to Rolling Stone.

The celebration is a nationwide tour that will have several stops this year and in 2019, the magazine reports.

It’s also the first large-scale live tour that Prince’s estate has signed off on.

The Florida Theatre noted that Questlove will not be in attendance.

The tour will also come to Gainesville, Fort Lauderdale, Tampa and Orlando.

In other Prince news, a new collection of previously unreleased music from Prince’s iconic vault with be released this fall. It will initially be exclusively streamed on Tidal but will expand in its release after that, according to Rolling Stone.

A large majority of Prince’s music catalog is available for streaming on all major streaming services, including Spotify and Apple Music.
