Amelia Henderson joined the weather team at First Coast News in June 2022
Amelia was happy to escape the snow and the cold of her hometown in Indiana and trade it in for the sunshine and warm Florida weather. Making the move to the south was a no-brainer for Amelia because of her passion for the ocean as she is a scuba dive master, free diver and surfer. Amelia has grown a passion for the ocean and the activities surrounding it after living in Adelaide, Australia for nearly two years while she finished her college degree.
After leaving Australia, Amelia moved to the Bahamas, where she worked as a shark feeder and scuba diving guide for a local scuba diving company.
After leaving the Bahamas, Amelia started her TV career with our very own Atyia Collins at WBOY in Clarksburg, West Virginia. Amelia started out doing weekend meteorology and quickly transitioned into the weekday evening meteorology position.
After two short years in Clarksburg, Amelia made her way to WCIA in Champaign, Illinois, where she was the morning meteorologist for nearly three years. Amelia is excited to join the most accurate weather team in Jacksonville, certified by weather rate because of her passion for severe weather and her experience as a storm chaser and meteorologist for the past four years.
