JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — James Grant joined the First Coast News team as sports anchor and reporter in September 2022.
James comes to First Coast News from fellow Tegna station 12News (KBMT/KJAC) in Beaumont, Texas. He spent two years covering the news in Southeast Texas and enjoyed opportunities to cover Texas high school football and other sports as well.
Born and raised in Houston, James spent two years at the University of South Carolina, before transferring to the University of Texas where he graduated in 2020.
He loves cheering for the Gamecocks and Longhorns, especially on Saturdays in the fall! Spurs Up and Hook ‘Em!!
While he’ll always be a proud Texan, “Big Tex” has always loved Florida, and actually grew up a huge Gators fan.
He’s fired up to be in Jacksonville and can’t wait to cover the Jaguars and all the great teams and athletes across the First Coast and Sunshine State.
When he’s not at a game or at the sports desk, James loves playing golf, trying new restaurants, hanging at the beach and exploring the First Coast.
