ST. LOUIS, MO -- Severe weather caused the roof of a Metro East clothing store to collapse Sunday evening, resulting in one death and at least two injuries.
Rescue crews in Fairview Heights rushed to the K&G Clothing Store, after getting reports that the building collapsed. A dozen shoppers and six employees were in the building at the time.
Searching through the debris is proving to be very dangerous because the building is unstable. Emergency crews were removing cement blocks one at a time as they searched for survivors.
Late Sunday night, police and fire supervisors said they thought all the people in the store had been accounted for.
At least two people injured in the building collapse were taken to the hospital. Their names and conditions have not been released.
