CLAY COUNTY, Fl. - First Coast News reporter Jacob Long is wrapping up his weeklong feature "To Catch a Speeder" with a twist.
Beginning Thursday afternoon and lasting through the first half hour of Good Morning Jacksonville on Friday morning, viewers submitted feedback for speeding problem areas through e-mails, Facebook posts and tweets.
During the 6 a.m. hour of GMJ on Friday, Long surprised viewers by showing up live at the location that received the most feedback. That location was Oakleaf Plantation Parkway near Oakleaf Village Elementary School in Clay County.
Long used a radar gun to clock several drivers speeding through the 35 miles per hour zone. One was clocked at 72 miles per hour. Other drivers were caught at 64 MPH, 58, MPH, 53 MPH and 52 MPH.
It seems many drivers speed down the parkway because there are not a lot of intersections they have to stop at.
Long is working to get answers from area law enforcement agencies about the speeding problems First Coast News exposed this week.
