Northside crash on I-95 snarled traffic

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A crash on Interstate 95 Southbound between 20th and 8th Streets snarled traffic early Thursday morning.

The crash blocked two Southbound lanes while Florida Highway Patrol worked to clear the roadway. The crash as cleared by 8:15 a.m.

According to a report from Florida Highway Patrol, 27-year-old Lelia Chaney was traveling in the center lane and crashed her Jeep SUV into the back of 64-year-old Alton Mabb Jr.'s Chevrolet pick-up truck as traffic slowed. A 17-year-old driver in a Lexus failed to stop after the initial crash and rear-ended Chaney's Jeep. The second impact forced Mabb's pick-up truck into the center lane of I-95 and was struck by a Ford pick-up truck being driven by 20-year-old William Hathaway, III.

Everyone involved in the crash except Hathaway were wearing seat belts, the FHP report detailed. Hathaway and Mabb reported minor injuries and Mabb was treated at UF Health Jacksonville.
