MIAMI (AP) --Tropical Storm Fernand is on shore in central Mexico and should be downgraded to a tropical depression later today.
Maximum winds are 45 mph and falling. The big threat will be heavy rain and mud slides for Mexico. The storm came on shore north of Veracruz at 12:45 a.m. eastern.
The storm is expected to produce 4 to 8 inches of rain over parts of several states. some areas could receive up to a foot and this could be deadly.
In the eastern Pacific on Sunday, former Tropical Storm Ivo weakened further from a tropical depression into a remnant low, with winds decreasing to 30 mph (45 mph).
