LAKE CITY, Fla. -- Two suspects are in jail following an attempted burglary in Lake City.
According to Lake City Police, the suspects entered the vehicle around 9:55 p.m., which was left unlocked in front of the residence in the 700 block of SE Dade Avenue.
Both suspects ran from the vehicle when confronted by the owner. The owner then followed the suspects before they got away.
The victim contacted Lake City Police and provided a description of the suspects.
The report said Officer Nikki Gunter patrolled the area and spotted two individuals matching the description.
The victim positively identified both suspects, Brandon Casagrand, 18 and a 16-year-old. Both were arrested and transported to the Columbia County Detention Center for burglary to a vehicle.
"Citizens are encouraged to lock their vehicles and not provide someone an opportunity to take your belongings. Whether you are out shopping, eating or parked in your own driveway, there are those who look for crimes of opportunity and an unlocked door provides that opportunity," Chief Gilmore said.
