WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- A new Circuit Court Judge, Mallory Cooper, has been assigned Thursday to the case of the State of Florida vs. Michael Dunn, according to the State Attorney's Office.
Dunn is accused in the shooting death of Jacksonville 17-year-old Jordan Davis.
Cooper has a history of proceeding over high profile cases, such as the Cristian Fernandez case.
A press release from the law offices of Cory Strolla, Dunn's attorney, states a defense motion to recuse Judge Suzanne Bass was granted.
The motion details multiple reasons for the defense's request, including alleged proceedings without representation or notification of other parties and also sites a verbal outburst in court on April 29, 2013, in which "inappropriate remarks" were made during Dunn's pre-trial hearing, which Judge Bass allegedly ignored and did not, "admonish the improper and unprovoked behavior."
