BRADFORD COUNTY, Fla. -- The Bradford County Animal Control Unit responded to SE 44th Avenue in the Lost Valley Camp Ground in Starke, Florida Thursday afternoon.
According to reports, officials became aware of an animal cruelty situation a few weeks ago when placing a sexual predator warning sign in the area.
At that time Captain Carol Starling, the supervisor who oversees the Animal Control Unit removed 11 dogs, a rabbit and 10 cats from that location and warned Jeanette Hars about treatment and proper care that needed to be in compliance with Florida statues.
Officials said when they returned Thursday afternoon for a follow-up visit with Hars they found 11 dogs not receiving proper care and as a result the suspect was arrested.
Hars is being held at the Bradford County jail on a $11,000 bond.
"It sickens me to find anyone mistreating animals. I will not tolerate animal cruelty and will use the full force of authority entrusted in me by the citizens of Bradford County to investigate and incarcerate animal abusers", said Sheriff Gordon Smith.
