FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. -- According to Florida Highway Patrol, a sea plane landed in Lake Disston in Flagler County Tuesday night.
FHP said the two people on-board, one male and one female were able to safely exit the plane while it remained afloat in the water. They were able to swim to a nearby dock wearing flotation devices.
The couple reported that they had been in the water for about an hour but they were not injured in this incident.
Sergeant Dylan L. Bryan said at this time the reason why the plane went down is unknown.
The plane remains upside down in the water and may be leaking fuel according to Flagler County Sheriff, Lt. Weber. The plane is expected to be removed on Wednesday.
Flagler County Fire Rescue and Flagler County Sheriff's Office and County Fire Flight responded along with Volusia County Sheriff's Office and FWC to this incident.
This incident has been turned over to Florida Highway Patrol for further investigation.
