JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Entertainer Bill Cosby grabbed the attention of students at Raines High School as he visited the city to be part of the Education Summit.
Cosby spoke for about a half hour and heard from students about their struggles and views about education.
"So if you are confused about life, let's look at it this way, you are not the first," said Cosby, sitting down while he delivered comic lines combined with a serious message.
"You can ignore things you want too, but I want you to realize these teachers have come here hoping to save somebody," said Cosby during one of the serious moments.
Cosby wanted to get a point across to the students who packed the auditorium, hitting hard on the importance of studying and getting a good education.
"I am 75 years old, I am trying to tell you where the bridge is out. Study ... ask people to help you," said Cosby.
Cosby on Thursday night will take the stage again at the Florida Theater. His visit is helping to raise money for education programs locally and draw attention to the needs of education in Jacksonville.
