JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Many dogs and cats at the Jacksonville Humane Society found a forever home, or at least a loving temporary home, through the shelter's Silent Night promotion.
114 animals were adopted and 62 pets found foster homes, according to a release from JHS.
Lab mix Gertie was fostered by James Morgan and his family.
"We
weren't in a position to adopt Gertie, but we were excited to get her
out of the shelter for a few nights. Fostering is like a trial run and
is a great option for people considering adding a dog or cat to their
family," he said.
Adoptive families were able to take home a new furry member of the family for $25. Those who fostered animals will be able to adopt them for that same price until Friday. Duval County residents must also pay a $20 rabies license fee.
