JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Florida Highway Patrol released the name of a man killed on I-95 near Emerson Street after they say he was driving the wrong way on the highway and hit a semi.
Jimmy Carracter, 46, was killed in a traffic crash that happened around 1:40 Wednesday morning on I-95 North south of the San Diego Road overpass, according to a traffic crash report from FHP.
The report said Carracter's 1996 Lexus LS 400 was traveling south in the northbound lanes.
Carracter's Lexus hit a 2002 Honda Civic being driven by 24-year-old Lauren Conville of Austell, Georgia.
When it did, Carracter's car rotated into the path of a tractor trailer driven by 43-year-old Ricardo Wong.
The impact of the crash caused Carracter's car to leave the roadway and hit the guardrail on the right shoulder.
Emergency personnel pronounced Crracter dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time according to the report. FHP said results are pending if alcohol played a role in the crash.
Lauren Conville sustained minor injuries in the crash. Wong, the semi-driver was not injured.
