JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Before 23-year-old Chris Dunn's wedding to his fiancee, Cinder, at Winterbourne Inn in Orange Park last Friday, he had not seen his father Michael for five years.
He saw him when he graduated from Sandalwood in 2007, and before that, he remembers visiting with him when he was 12 years old. His mother and Michael Dunn divorced when he was one and a stepfather came into his life at two years old, so he never had the need to reach out to his real father.
But Dunn talked with his father often at the wedding reception.
"He was trying to reconnect and felt very happy about it," Chris Dunn said.

Dunn said he was shocked when he finally heard about the shooting incident more than 24 hours later.
"If it was just from my experience that night with him, I will say it is out of character, from how he was that afternoon with us, to go and do that it seems very out of character," Chris Dunn said.

Dunn said his father left the wedding reception in a good mood, and Dunn was pleased that he was going to be able to reconnect with his father.
"He had planned on the next day to take his girlfriend to St. Augustine and show her the area, and we had talked to about getting together and having lunch. After he left the wedding, I never heard from him," Chris Dunn said.

Now his father sits in the Duval County Jail. And Chris Dunn won't be going to Satellite Beach to visit his father.
"He wanted to invite us down there, cook for us, take us out in the plane. Seemed like it would be a really fun time to reconnect with him"
Now, Chris Dunn said he won't abandon his father. He plans to visit him soon in jail, though he doesn't know what he'll say. Dunn said he plans to wait out this whole thing and hopes to finally know the truth behind what happened.
