JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has charged a man with murder in the shooting death of another man on West 25th Street Tuesday evening.
Michael Anthony White, Jr., 30, died after being shot Tuesday evening in the 2500 block of West 25th Street, according to a news release from Melissa Bujeda, Public Information Officer for the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
JSO Homicide Sergeant Jay Farhat said officers first responded to the area after reports of gunshots.
Tremaine Demitrius Harris, 26, was charged with White's murder after he was identified by two eyewitnesses.
The first eyewitness said they saw a black male talking with White at the corner of W. 25th Street and Martha Street, according to a JSO report.
That witness then heard four gunshots and saw the black male flee down W. 25th toward Dawson Street. Later, that witness identified Harris after JSO showed them a photo.
Another witness also said they saw two black males standing at W. 25th Street and Martha Street, looking like they were talking, not arguing, according to the report.
That witness drove past and then in the rear view mirror saw one of the males pull a gun out of his waistband, fire 4-5 shots and run through a yard on Dawson Street.
The second witness also positively identified Harris in a photo as the one who shot White.
