TAMPA, Fla. -- (WTSP) The Tampa socialite
involved in the David Petraeus scandal sent emails to the city's mayor inviting
him to events on behalf of the military and bragged about a White House
visit.
Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn's office released
the emails from Jill Kelley to the media on Friday. The FBI said Kelley received
threatening emails from Petraeus' mistress, who apparently saw her as a romantic
rival.
The chatty and friendly emails to the
mayor were sent in 2011 and 2012. In one, Kelley said she was hosting a group of
"VIPs" from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Nepal at her house as part of a trade and
commerce program.
Another one dated November 8 -- one day
before the Petraeus scandal became public -- Kelley says she was at the White
House "with my friends in the Administration" the weekend before the election
and was "glad" President Obama won re-election.
An Obama administration tells The
Associated Press Kelley, in fact, visited the White House a total of three times
this year with her sister, twice eating in the Executive Mansion mess.
The official says Kelley and her sister
had two "courtesy" meals at the White House mess as guests of a mid-level White
House aide. Kelley and her family also
received a White House tour. The visits occurred during the past three
months.
The official spoke on condition of
anonymity because those visitor records have not yet been made public.
Back in March, Kelley requested that
Buckhorn stop radio show host Bubba the Love Sponge from burning a Koran on his
program.
"This Bubba the Love Sponge is a complete
moron," Buckhorn remarked in one email.
In more recent emails, Kelley asked
Buckhorn for help with the "paparazzi" that have camped outside her Tampa
mansion since the scandal broke.
"I'm scared and cannot believe what my
City -in which I have contributed so much of my love, time, money and
leadership, has now done to me and my innocent family."
