JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police said a man operating a street sweeper was killed Friday morning when one of the equipment's pieces crushed him.

Friday morning the man was cleaning the Piccadilly parking lot, Police said.

While he was cleaning, one of the equipment's pieces, the street sweeper became jammed.

Police said when the man went to the back of the street sweeper to unclog the jam an equipment part, called a "hopper" fell on him.

The part crushed the man.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

At this time police have not released the man's identity.
