JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- How far is too far to park for jury duty?  Some jurors say they want to park near the new courthouse.
But, plans for closer parking are not proving successful.

This lot across from EverBank Field is more than two miles from the new courthouse. Juror Robert Lee said it is not working for him. 

"I had to leave early to come find this place down here. It's way too far out of the way," he said.

"The problem is now with the buses with JTA, whether they can do it or cannot do it," said Jim Fuller, Clerk of the Courts.

Fuller is talking about the JTA buses that transport around 500 jurors back and forth to the new courthouse one day a week. He said now, there may be a problem with JTA continuing the service. 

"There's a lot of things they tell me, it's against the law, it's against federal law, they've got to bid it out, I don't know. They've been doing it for years for us at the other courthouse. It was never a problem," Fuller explained.

Regardless of who transports them, these jurors say they want to park closer to the courthouse. "Came over to get onto the bus, the bus said, 'no, that's not the right place.' I had to park over here. So I parked over here, now I'm waiting on the bus to get back over to the jury duty. Yeah, very inconvenient," Lee said.

So, the question remains, what law or rules would prohibit JTA from transporting jurors to the new courthouse?  We called JTA.  They are researching and say they will get back to us. 

They say at this point, they have not made a decision on whether they will cancel the service.
