Langdale was swimming Monday in the Glades County river when an alligator bit off his right arm below the elbow. He was hospitalized in good condition, though doctors couldn't reattach his arm.

His aunt, LaDawn Hayes, tells the News-Press that Langdale had surgery Wednesday to remove dead tissue from the injured arm.

The teen's family is seeking donations to help with his medical expenses.
