Jacksonville Mayor Alvin Brown urges caution as Tropical Storm Debby approaches

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Mayor Alvin Brown said that in preparation for Tropical Storm Debby, the Duval County Emergency Operations Center will remain at Level 2 until Wednesday.

A Level 2 is defned by the city's EOC as a partial activation of the Duval County Emergency Operations Center, meaning all necessary agencies are being notified and activated.

Brown said that so far, JEA has reported 98 power outages. He also urged residents to remain cautious, as the First Coast will feel the effects of Debby for a few days.

"Stay inside if you can," Brown said. "It's a tropical storm, but it's not over.  It's the rain that we need to be mindful of."
