JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- An armed robbery at a convenience store on the Northside was halted when a store patron fought back and shot at the suspects.
One of the suspects, 21-year-old Randall Williams appeared before a judge just after 10 a.m. Sunday with his arm bandaged in a sling.
According to a police report, Williams and three others pulled up to a convenience store at 2639 Palmdale Street. The report stated that Williams took out a gun as the store owner was locking up the shop around 11:30 p.m. Friday night.
Witnesses said a store patron saw what was happening from the parking lot, took a gun out of his glove box and starting shooting at the suspects.
A gun battle ensued and both the store clerk and patron ran for cover, according to witnesses. The patron believed he hit one of the suspects, who took off in a vehicle.
Williams later showed up at Shands Hospital with a gunshot wound to his right arm.
He is being held without bond, charged with armed robbery, assault, and possession of a concealed weapon. The three other suspects are also being held without bond on armed robbery charges.
