JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The New Black Panther Party in Jacksonville rails against what it calls institutional racism.

"I as a black man have no right to obey laws that don't apply to me and don't protect me and my kind," said Mikhail Muhammad at a stop in Jacksonville.

They made headlines after announcing a $10,000 bounty for someone to make a citizen's arrest of George Zimmerman.

"What would you do with him?" First Coast News asked.

"We would turn him into the authorities," Muhammad replied.

"What if the authorities say they don't need him?" we asked.

"Well if they don't want him that proves they won't do justice for black people," Muhammad said.

But this New Black Panther Party is drawing strong condemnation from the original Black Panthers. The group posted this message online: "The people in the New Black Panthers were never members of the Black Panther Party and have no legitimate claim on the Party's name. On the contrary, they would steal the names and pretend to walk in the footsteps of the Party's true heroes."

But the New Black Panther Party carries on with its message. About 20 people were at this press conference in Jacksonville. And the New Black Panthers solicited $10 donations to cover gas money.

At the event tonight, the New Black Panthers passed out a flyer promoting an event on April 9, calling for no work, no school and no shopping.
