PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -- Two parents have been arrested on charges of aggravated child abuse and child neglect after investigators found two children tied up at their home.
According to Hancel Woods, Public Information Officer for the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, the two were arrested Monday. Both are charged with one count of aggravated child abuse and one count of child neglect.
Police have identified the parents as Kaitlynn and Michael Turner. The three children who are alleged to be victims of the abuse are one-year-old twin boys and a two-year-old.
The boys' maternal grandparents showed up at the house in Palatka looking for answers.
"I have no clue. We just found out," said the grandmother.
According to police one of the twins has been admitted to the hospital. Woods said one of the twins was found face down in his crib. The child's hands were tied behinds his back. The other twin was found with his legs tied.
Police say one was tied with a scarf, the other with pantyhose.
The twins had multiple bruises and lacerations from previous abuse, Woods said. The two year old boy was not restrained. All three children have been placed into custody with the Florida Department of Children and Families.
Putnam County Sheriff's Office deputies were at the residence serving a warrant out of Clay County. Deputies say the person the warrant was for was not found at the home.
Both Kaitlynn and Michael Turner are currently being held in the Putnam County Jail. Their bond has been set at $15,016 each.
