ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- Neighbors of the mother and children found shot to death in a Julington Creek home can't believe the tragedy that struck so close to home.
"I'm a father of 3 and I'm shocked, devastated," said Alexander Perveza, a neighbor of the family. "It's shocking, very shocking. We never hear this kind of news. Murder, no. Shooting, no."
The sheriff's office said a relative found the bodies of Donna McCulloch, 40, Daniel Rashley, 8, and William Rashley, 7, Thursday afternoon. According to a news release from public information officer Sgt. Chuck Mulligan, all three had been shot, but the cause of death will be determined after autopsies.
Spokesperson Christina Langston with St. Johns County Schools confirms the children attended Julington Creek Elementary.
"I feel just so bad for that mother who lost her life, those children that lost their life. This is unheard of for this neighborhood," he said.
