ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- Two people reported being bitten by a dog this morning near St. Augustine High School, prompting a visit from the sheriff's office and the fire department.
The reported attacks happened this morning near a home on Del Monte Drive.
A man who said he was standing in his driveway suffered a puncture wound on his leg, and a woman who was riding a bicycle was still being confronted by a dog as the photographer arrived; she also had a bleeding wound on her leg.
An official with the St. Johns County Fire Rescue Department asked the dog's owner to secure the dog before escorting the woman to a waiting ambulance.
The dog was not secured and could be seen barking at the bicyclist, the fire rescue official and a passing car before being taken inside.
According to the incident report from the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office, the first victim called in his complaint around 11 a.m., saying he was in his driveway when he saw the dog chasing a car. He said the dog then came into his driveway and bit him above the knee.
The bicyclist told the deputy the dog ran after her bicycle as she approached the home.
The man in the home said he came outside when he heard a commotion outside. He told the deputy the dog had been tied up and must have gotten loose.
He also said the dog has not been vaccinated, but does not attack anyone.
The dog is now in the possession of Animal Control, who is continuing the investigation. It will determine if any charges will be filed.
Paul Studevant , division chief of St. John's Animal Control, said the dog was a black and white pit bull, about one year old. He says he will go through the process to declare this a dangerous animal for destruction.
