SUWANNEE COUNTY, Fla. -- The driver of the pickup truck that collided with a bicycle, killing its rider, will not face charges.
The collision happened before sunrise this morning on U.S. 129 near the intersection with County Road 132.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 49-year-old Jimmie Rollison was bicycling southbound on 129 in the dark while the air was smoky and foggy.
Rollison's bicycle had no illumination, the FHP said, so when a pickup truck approached from behind, the driver was unable to see the bicycle, and the two collided.
Rollison was thrown onto the shoulder; the driver stopped at the scene. Rollison was killed.
Due to the circumstances, the driver will not be charged.
