JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A commercial truck carrying hazardous cargo tipped on its side near Blount Island Wednesday afternoon.

Jacksonville Fire and Rescue and the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded to the incident on at New Berlin Road and Hecksher Drive.

A truck pulling a container was traveling westbound in the 4500 block of Hecksher Dr. after leaving Blount Island. While in transit the container detached from the truck and overturned on the side of the road, according to JSO.

The container was loaded with shrink wrapped pallets of Manzate, which is a solid fungicide. The container itself was not opened and no material spilled onto the roadway or surrounding areas.

The incident closed a portion of Hecksher Drive near Blount Island.

The truck company involved, Road Runner Intermoda Services, is investigating the cause of the incident.

The incident did not cause danger to the public and no injuries were reported.
