JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police say a motorcyclist was injured Friday when he turned into a passing patrol cruiser.
The unidentified motorcyclist was stopped on Century Street, waiting to turn east on Atlantic Blvd, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. A marked JSO car was traveling at normal traffic speeds heading west on Atlantic Blvd. For unknown reasons the motorcyclist turned as the patrol car approached, JSO detailed.
The patrol car struck the front of the motorcycle and the rider was ejected. The motorcyclist suffered a serious injury to his right arm and was transported to UF Health Jacksonville.
The incident occurred around noon and the officer involved was not injured. An investigation is underway.
