JACKSOVNILLE, Fla. -- The driver of a garbage truck had to make an emergency stop on JTB Boulevard Monday morning when he noticed a large amount of smoke coming from the cargo area.

The driver of the Republic Services garbage truck pulled over on westbound JTB around 11:30 a.m. and dumped the contents of the truck on the road, which had caught fire in transport.

The Jacksonville Fire Department arrived on scene a short time later and put out the fire.

JTB was shut down and traffic was diverted to Southside Boulevard. The right lane of SR-202 (JTB) was closed for more than four hours while Republic Services crews cleared the garbage.

There were no reported injuries and no property damage.
