JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A dump truck leaking diesel fuel after it crashed into a dividing wall caused the Martin Luther King Jr. Expressway to be closed for a few hours Tuesday afternoon.
According to Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Sgt. Davison, the dump truck was traveling southbound on the MLK Expressway and attempted to exit on the Hart Bridge Expressway ramp.
The driver saw that another vehicle was already next to him on the exit ramp, which caused him to overcorrect and swerve to the left. The dump truck then crashed into the dividing wall, causing the truck's fuel tank to rupture and leak on the road.
Northbound MLK was closed until around 6:45 p.m. while the spill was cleaned up. According to Davison, the spill only posed a road hazard, not an environmental one.
