ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- Two teens were lucky to walk away from an overnight crash in World Golf Village early Friday morning.

A 17-year-old driver failed to negotiate a right curve, according to Florida Highway Patrol, sending his 2004 Acura into several trees. The driver and his 17-year-old passenger came to a rest in the treeline near World Commerce Center on International Golf Parkway.

The teens left the scene of the crash, FHP detailed, before reporting it to law enforcement.

The 17-year-old passenger was taken to an area hospital by her parents and treated for minor injuries. The driver has been cited for careless driving.
