JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The weekend country music and football fans on the First Coast were waiting for.....the unveiling of the world's largest stadium video boards.

The Jacksonville Jaguars revealed to the public more than $60 million dollars in improvements to EverBank Field.

Festivities began at 6 p.m. with a high-profile soccer match-up between London-based Fulham Football Club and D.C. United of Major League Soccer.

It was expected to be a largely ceremonial event because the screens have been seen on and working during different times over the past several days. At 8 p.m., officials from the team, stadium and City of Jacksonville flipped the switch on the world's two largest video screens.

"I think it's going to be a benchmark here in Jacksonville for what a game-day experience on the planet should be like," said Jaguars owner Shad Khan Friday to First Coast News. "This is one of the ideas that we thought would really separate us. You know, it's a challenge for us. We are in a small market, how we would get people."

The boards sit at the north and south end zones and measure 60 feet high and 362 feet long. Construction has been ongoing for the past several weeks.

EverBank Field also revealed new swimming pools and enhanced fan areas to make game day experiences more memorable.

The fun topped off at 8:30 p.m. when country music superstar Carrie Underwood took the stage for a live concert.

The improvements were a shared investment by Kahn, who pitched in $20 million, and the city, which approved spending $43 million.

"These amenities are for everybody not just Jaguars, so it really raises the EverBank experience," Khan said.

Khan said the investment is starting to pay off. He said the lower-bowl of EverBank is sold-out and the second level is about 70 percent sold.

Khan said it's all about the fans.

"My favorite thing? A smile on everyone's face when they see the whole thing," Khan said.
