rMIAMI (AP) - Pat Riley stood behind a lectern on Monday afternoon to introduce new Miami guard Shabazz Napier, the lone player that the Heat picked up in last week's draft.
He didn't stick around Napier's first Miami news conference for long.
Riley left before it ended to crunch more numbers before free agency starts.
No disrespect was taken or intended, but this free agency period that starts Tuesday is what Riley has been waiting four years to tackle. LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh have all opted out, which gives Riley plenty of money to spend.
He stunned the NBA four years ago by getting those three guys together. Now the NBA is waiting to see if he can keep them together - and perhaps maybe make the Heat even better.
