JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- Seven players signed division I scholarships last season, leaving gaping holes for the Raines Vikings varsity football team to fill this spring. Head Coach Deran Wiley explained he's looking to fill five positions on offense and five spots on defense. Essentially an underclassman squad, the coaching staff is looking for great leadership from its senior class.

The upperclassman have a chip on their shoulder after what happened last season. When the 2013 prep football season came to a close, the Raines Vikings coaches, players and fans were outraged after the double overtime loss to Bolles in the playoffs

What made the heartbreaking loss worse to Viking Nation was the belief that poor officiating by the referees played a major role in the defeat.

Fast forward to spring 2014, the Vikings are back at it over on the Northside of Jacksonville, with a new attitude.

Head coach Deran Wiley's squad will have a tough match up months before the regular season is scheduled to start, when they scrimmage Trinity Christian this Thursday night at home.
