WACO, Texas (AP) - Baylor football is back on campus after nearly eight decades.
The 10th-ranked Bears play their first game on the Waco campus since November 1935 when they open the new McLane Stadium on Sunday night against SMU.
Fifth-year senior offensive tackle Troy Baker, who grew up in Waco, remembers being recruited on a hope and a vision.
Now a new stadium and a Big 12 championship are reality for the Bears.
Baylor closed out 64 seasons at Floyd Casey Stadium, about four miles from campus, last December. The Bears beat Texas to clinch their first outright league title since the 1980 Southwest Conference.
The opener at the 45,140-seat McLane Stadium is sold out. Only a handful of tickets remain for Baylor's regular-season finale against Kansas State in December.
