How they got here: Top seed Florida won the South region by beating No. 16 Albany 67-55; No. 9 Pittsburgh 61-45, No. 4 UCLA 79-68 and No. 11 Dayton 62-52. Seventh-seeded UConn won the East region by beating No. 10 Saint Joseph's 89-81 (OT), No. 2 Villanova 77-65, No. 3 Iowa State 81-76 and No. 4 Michigan State 60-54.

History: UConn is in the Final Four for the first time since 2011 and the fifth time in school history. The Huskies won national titles in 1999, 2004 and 2011. Florida is in the Final Four for the fifth time and the fourth time under Billy Donovan. The Gators' most recent appearance was in 2007. They won national titles in 2006 and 2007. The teams have met once in the NCAA tournament, with Florida winning 69-60 in overtime, outscoring the Gators 12-3 in the extra session, in a regional semifinal in 1994.

Coaches: Kevin Ollie is 50-18 in two seasons at UConn, including 4-0 in the NCAA tournament. Billy Donovan is 451-168 in 18 seasons at Florida, including 35-11 in the NCAA tournament, and 485-188 in 20 seasons overall.

Need to know: UConn -- The Huskies have won nine of its last 11 games with the only losses coming against Louisville, including an 81-48 drubbing in the regular season finale. UConn is among the best free throwing shooting teams in the country (ranked sixth at 76.9 percent). The Huskies also are among the top 15 in field goal percentage defense and three-point percentage defense.

Florida -- Florida is third in the nation in scoring defense, allowing 57.6 points per game and their 12.7 points per game scoring margin is seventh best. The Gators seniors are finally at the Final Four after Elite Eight losses in the previous three seasons. No other team in the nation has even reached the Sweet 16 in each of the last four years. Florida is on a program-record 30-game winning streak. In becoming the first SEC team to go 18-0 in league play, Florida has the league's player of the year (Scottie Wilbekin), defensive player of the year (Patric Young), sixth man of the year (Dorian Finney-Smith) and coach of the year (Donovan).
