JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Michael Starling, a University of Florida graduate, was confident going into Florida's Final Four game against UConn.
His excitement grew as the Gators jumped to a 16-4 lead early in the game. But things soon went awry and the Gators trailed by 3 points at the half.
Allen Kraft wasn't too concerned.
"No one responds to the halftime lectures better than the Gator basketball team. Donovan has some magic words, whatever they are bottle them up and sell it, the guy can give a good speech," Kraft said.
But things got worse. The gators fell further behind. Then the heavy rains hit downtown. It caused the satellite dish to go out and fans missed some of the game while watching Chicago Pizza and Sports Grille at The Landing.
Things didn't get any better when Gator fans saw their team's season come to a close with a 10 point loss to the Huskies of UConn, 63-53.
"Complete surprise, still a Gator fan. Wait till next year," Gators fan Michael Starling said.
"They showed up the first half of the first half, that is about it," said Rusty Thompson.
"I am proud of our Gators. We got four of the best players in the game that stuck around for four years, that is kind of a rare thing in the game today, that says something about Donavan right there. Congrats to Uconn, they played a good game,"
" I wanted them to go all the way, make up for the football team, they let me down again..." (nikko Jourdain)
