JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Sandalwood standout pitcher Sean Reid-Foley graduated Thursday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Arena.

Then later that night Reid-Foley heard his named called in the second round of the Major League Baseball Draft.

The Toronto Blue Jays selected Reid-Foley with the 49th overall pick.

The hard-throwing right hander had to wait longer than most expected but the Blue Jays did pull the trigger.

Many of the scouting agencies had Reid-Foley going mid to late first round.

Beyond Reid-Foley, a handful of other locals were drafted on Friday.

-Round 4 Taylor Gushue, Pittsburgh Pirates (University of Florida)

- Round 6 Brandon Leibrandt, Philadelphia Phillies (Florida State University)

-Round 7 Drew Weeks, Colorado Rockies (Clay High School and UNF)

-Round 7 Tyler Humphreys, Arizona Diamondbacks (St. John's River State College)

-Round 8 Austin Slater, San Francisco Giants (The Bolles School)

- Round 8 Justin Shafer, Toronto Blue Jays (University of Florida)

- Round 9 Peter Miller, Seattle Mariners (Florida State University)

- Round 9 Justin Gonzalez, Arizona Diamondbacks (Florida State University)

-Round 10 Alex McRae, Pittsburgh Pirates (Jacksonville University)
