A 2 to 3-foot shark has been found lurking in an Indian Harbour Beach pond.
City Manager Mark Ryan doesn't know how the pint-sized predator showed up, but said it was "highly unlikely" it got there by itself. There are grates on the drainage outflows of the pond to prevent alligators from getting in.
The shark has been there for about a month.
Ryan said the pond is freshwater and estimated it might be several acres large. He thinks it's a bull shark, but can't be sure until it's captured.
Staff from the city's public works department are trying to capture it with the help of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
