JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office reported that a JSO officer was at fault in a Tuesday morning crash.

The crash occurred just south of Baldwin on Interstate 10 Westbound near mile marker 346 across from the Winn-Dixie warehouse.

JSO said the driver of a van slowed down due to a traffic crash that was ahead of him.

The officer failed to see the van and ended up rear-ending the van, causing the van to spin around on the highway.

The police car ran off the road and ended up in the ditch.

The officer was transported by the Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department to UF Health for observation and two of the four adult females in the van were transported to Ed Fraser Hospital in Macclenny for observation with minor injuries.

According to JSO, seatbelts appear to have been used by everyone involved in this crash.

Westbound I-10 was closed for a few hours for the traffic investigation.

The findings of the investigation will be forwarded to the JSO Safety Review Board.
