MONMOUTH BEACH, NJ – Monmouth Beach life guards reported seeing a shark off the shore heading toward Long Branch around 2:15 p.m. Sunday.

Long Branch police received the call warning them the shark was seen "close to the shore" and that it was headed south, Sgt. Jorge Silverio said.

"We advised our lifeguards, but we haven't seen anything ourselves," he said.
