Happy Cinco de Mayo

President Obama hosts a Cinco de Mayo reception tonight at the White House to celebrate Mexican heritage and pride. Contrary to popular belief, Cinco de Mayo is not Mexican Independence Day (that's in September). In the holiday's native Puebla, Mexico, the date commemorates the Mexican army's victory over French forces in 1862, but on this side of the border, we celebrate Mexican pride.

Indiana to hold news conference on MERS case

A man hospitalized in Indiana with the first U.S. case of the mysterious MERS virus that has stricken hundreds of people in the Middle East is in good condition and improving by the day, according to government health officials. Indiana Health Commissioner William VanNess II said no new cases have been reported. Amy Reel, spokeswoman for the Indiana Health Department, said officials would have a news conference Monday to discuss the case.

Pistorius' lawyers have called three of up to 17 witnesses they might ask to testify at the Olympian's trial. The defense seeks to halt the prosecution's momentum by offering an alternative thread of evidence that backs his version.

A long-gestating movie never got made, but a casual suggestion last year by a top Fox executive led the clock to start ticking again. A half-sized, 12-episode season, 24: Live Another Day, starts Monday (8 ET/PT) as a summer event series. "I was surprised," says star Kiefer Sutherland, who plays badass agent Jack Bauer. "We finished."
